Shadow Strike — Dagger Directive 1.0 Campaign

Five new ops, new ground, same one-shot rule.

Shadow Strike

Shadow Strike is the fourth official campaign. It shipped with Version 1.0 on 13 August 2026. Press kits called the drop the Global Ops Expansion. The Steam changelog calls the campaign Shadow Strike. If a friend says either name, they mean this branch: five missions, new objective types, new encounters, and a conspiracy the developers described without handing you a crate list.

The trailer below is the official 1.0 launch cut from MicroProse. Use it for tone — night cans, long glass, squad noise — not as a spoiler map.

What the official notes actually said

The 1.0 post is unusually specific. Across five missions you move from Tajikistan to Afghanistan to the UAE and finally to a private island in the Persian Gulf. The opening beat is a rescue. The arc is a manufactured war, a mercenary network, and an architect the notes nickname through Shadow Front. That is all we will print. The rest is your recon drone and your save key.

July 2026 developer notes listed working titles before launch: Risky Rendezvous, All Down Hill From Here, Fortress Fiasco, Diplomatic Defense, Island Incursion. Match those names to screenshots if you want. Do not treat them as a speedrun order. Mission types were deliberately under-described so the sandbox could still surprise you.

Toys that arrived with the branch

Shadow Strike is also a loadout exam. 1.0 put new rails on the ship at the same time:

  • MK-18 in black, green, and tan
  • P90
  • M17 pistol
  • M32 with a dedicated scope
  • M7 with scope and suppressor
  • XM8 with grenade launcher and scope
  • M2 machine gun
  • MK19 automatic grenade launcher

Weapon ranks places them by job. The M32 and MK19 are loud S on a planned clear and a self-kill in a villa stairwell. Ballistics before ego.

You also got two call-ins. Airstrikes covers the A-10 single 30 mm pass and the AH-64 two-minute hover. Both are networking tests in co-op. Both are the opposite of a grass insert.

First evening on Shadow Strike

  1. Reset binds if you last played in Early Access. Controls explains why.
  2. Run a short original-theater op so pouches are not new.
  3. Open the first Shadow Strike mission day and silent.
  4. Fly a recon drone for a full minute. New skyline, new sightlines.
  5. Pick one door. Extract or die. Then change one variable.

Do not bring the M32 on life one. Do not call an Apache on a compound you have not walked. Do not invite three friends until the host and one client share the same corpse. New AI packs plus explosives are why Co-op exists as a test card.

How this theater punishes old habits

Bering taught you snow folds. Pacific taught you grass. Europe taught you windows. Shadow Strike mixes desert, built-up blocks, and an island finish. Official language promised new objective types — not just “shoot the cache.” Read the board twice. If the card says rescue, your SAW is a hostage problem. If the card says defend, your ghost kit is a delay, not a plan.

Night is still a loadout. Pack NVGs. Flashlights still exist. Maps is the ground index; this page is the branch caution.

Cosmetics are not a briefing

1.0 also returned a balaclava in two styles and five colours, plus a wider cosmetic pile. Fun. Irrelevant to the first door. Wear the tan MK-18 if it makes the screenshot honest. Zero the scope anyway.

After you extract once

Run the same op at night. Then run it loud with an airstrike you understand. Then host a friend and watch objectives. When you can finish the island without touring the whole sandbox, you are allowed to touch Workshop again. Shadow Strike does not replace Bering, the Pacific, or Europe. It is the fourth column on the board.

For the dated feature list, read Version 1.0. For a packing sentence, use the mission planner and set the theater to Shadow Strike. For a verdict on whether the finished game is worth a weekend, the Review is still the honest page — this one is how not to waste the new campaign on a sprint.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is Shadow Strike in Dagger Directive?

The fourth campaign added in Version 1.0: five missions against Shadow Front, from Central Asia to a Gulf island.

Is it the same as Global Ops?

Yes. Global Ops was the press name. Shadow Strike is the campaign name in the 1.0 Steam changelog.

Should I start 1.0 on Shadow Strike?

Only if you already have pouches and saves in muscle memory. New players should extract once from an original theater first.

Are the five mission names spoilers?

They are official working titles from the July 2026 blog. They do not describe objectives. We will not add crate notes.
